| Your target heart rate is 60% to 85% of your maximum heart rate. Your maximum heart rate is the upper safe limit of what your cardiovascular system can manage during strenuous physical activity. When you exercise within your target heart rate you can achieve a variety of health benefits including enhancing your fitness level and burning body fat.
If you're commencing an exercise program for the first time, or resuming an exercise program after a period of time, start slow! Try reaching the lower number in your target heart rate then gradually increase the intensity as your fitness improves. Please consult with your doctor prior to embarking on any physical activity program. |
